Haha, despite the many negative responses ive heard, i still think the batch jacket is nice to use =) Its damn useful in the cold weather, very warming =P haha ok i shall not promote the batch jacket any further.

Band concert is in 2 weeks time, and its a consectuive 2 concerts for me again. =x I don't know why but i think my interest in band has detoriated over time. Maybe its because of the boring nature of band practises in RJ. I mean i like the pieces that we are playing. I think they are rather interesting and nice to listen to. Haha. Not like some schools who play symphony after symphony and concerto after concerto =x. Haha i think most people could guess who i am talking about. I feel that band practise is effective only when everyone puts in their 101%. I mean i rather go all the way for some practises where everyone else does the same, rather than spending lots of time on not fruitful practises. I don' t think quality time is spent in band.

I mean i do need practise, and most of us need practises for different pieces. So what is the point of forcing everyone to sit together and practise? Its like every other song will have someone who is weak in that song and its makes it boring for those who can actually play their parts for that piece. It is kind of ineffecient to me. Id rather have more time alone to practise my own parts.

I feel that the environment in the band is really dragging my band spirit down, so much so that it affected my mood in alumni as well. For that i don't mean that i am already sick of alumni, but i feel that i will start to lose interest soon. I remember the times when i went for band with much expectation, maybe because i still feel that responsibility to do so and i do have true interest in band. I used to turn up at the bandroom before the people actually opened the door, and left only when they chased us out. I liked that kind of enivronment. At that time it was not only me, it was like the band attitude. The positive attitude really drives me to do better and keep me alert in the band.

Some people say that these are personal and cannot be controlled. But i realised that discipline can shape a person's attitude. Back in RV when i was a junior, our seniors treated us strictly, with lots of punishment meted out. That kept us at least in fear of being punished, and we would do the correct things and obey the rules. In the long run, it just became our habit to act and run the events that way, the way that keeps the band spirit high and the discipline strong. It just made band more enjoyable. It is just like the opposite to what i see now. Low band morale and spirits, people not interested and everyone is just shagged and feels no interest in it. I feel so dragged down by the environment as well. First to say the bandroom isnt very invigorating already. Stuffy and dull looking, it makes things worse i think. Sorry to those who i have offended, but i really felt that way. I don't believe that discipline can be done away with increased age. Maturity is not an excuse to start riddding off the rules and regulations. I believe that as we grow older, we should be compelled to more rules for serious matter. I mean i believe people should understand the need and appreciate it as they grow older. In sec1 when i was punished i thought it as quite absrud to be punished. But as i grew, i felt the need for it and could better appreciate it. People see me as very law abiding, but i feel that it is needed to keep a positive environment and i appreciate the effort made by the law enforcers to keep the environment going.

I don't think many people will share the same viewpoint as me, but i really feel that it is going from band to worse. I hope things wouldn't go to the extent that it cannot be salvaged.
